Good news! It is just announced that Bali will reopen to tourists in October 2020. Since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic, almost all countries have closed the tourism sector to prevent the spread of the virus. So far, only Greece, Spain and Italy have stated they are ready to welcome tourists again this summer.
In an attempt to revive popular destinations like Seminyak, Indonesia's tourism ministry said it would start a major promotional campaign starting from June. If all goes to plan and there are no further outbreaks, Indonesia will welcome international visitors to Bali, Kepulauan Riau (Riau Islands), and Yogyakarta starting in October.
Currently, Indonesia's borders are only open to domestic visits and state diplomats. Bali's economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism and its economy shrank drastically in the first four months of this year. However, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, secretary to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, said she hoped promotions and campaigns would help visitor interest return to normal in 2021.
With its aquamarine waters, and beautiful beaches, Bali is a tropical paradise for tourists. Be patient and start planning your visit to the island of Bali.
