The World's Largest Oceanarium Will Open in Singapore
Singapore Oceanarium is expected to open at the end of 2024
8 May 2022
Singapore Oceanarium Resort World Sentosa is about to open and become the largest oceanarium in the world! The S.E.A. The Aquarium, home to more than 100,000 marine animals with over 1,000 species, will be renamed the Singapore Oceanarium (SGO). The current Aquarium will be expanded to more than three times its size, and the Singapore Oceanarium is expected to open by the end of 2024.
4D Theater and Facilities
With over 800,000 square feet of space, this oceanarium is home to more than 100,000 marine animals from more than 800 species. Facilities include underwater trails, glass-bottom boat rides, and a 4D theatre. The Singapore Oceanarium is located on Sentosa Island, just off the southern coast of Singapore. The island is accessible by bridge or cable car from the mainland.
First-class marine education and research center
SGO is targeted as a first-class center for marine biodiversity education and research, conservation and restoration of marine organisms and habitats, and offers more and more entertainment.
"It aims to inspire change and drive action to protect the oceans through the experiences it offers" — Resort World Sentosa
The content it offers will be greater in scale and depth than S.E.A. Aquarium and will be enhanced through "advanced digital innovations and interactive technologies".
Visitors will be educated about the evolution of sea creatures, different ocean zones such as the unexplored deep sea, and Singapore's unique coastal ecosystem through "immersive and multi-sensory storytelling".
S.E.A Aquarium remains open
The S.E.A Aquarium will not be closed during renovations and will remain open to visitors.
The Dolphin Island Aquarium will also continue to be part of the new Singapore Oceanarium and contribute to Singapore's marine conservation research and education.
