The obligation to use the Indonesian language also applies to the names of buildings, apartments, settlements, offices and trade complexes established or owned by Indonesian citizens or Indonesian legal entities. These buildings include hotels, inns, airports, ports, terminals, stations, factories, towers, monuments, dams, weirs, tunnels, places of business, public meeting places, entertainment venues, performance venues, housing.

But there are exceptions for buildings that have historical, cultural, customs or religious values. Although it is required, but in the regulation, there are no sanctions for those who violate it.

Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia, PHRI) for Human Resources and Certification, Hari Setiyono, said that the application of the Indonesian language in the hotel industry took a long time, because the concept of hotel operations came from abroad.

"This means that we need time, and it took a long time to socialize to change foreign terms into Indonesian," Hari said as quoted by Antara, Friday (11/10/2019). "In addition, there are certain circles who call this pattern a step backwards, because it happened in the 90s. A real example, there used to be Tunjungan Plaza changed to Plaza Tunjungan," he said.

However, PHRI will convey to all PHRI members/management to implement this policy.
