Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, visited Petra, Jordan on March 20, 2018 and posted a photo of The Treasury on his Instagram account with the caption: "Petra and Mars".
The post garnered more than 880,000 likes on Instagram and Twitter. Musk wrote on Twitter that he was on spring break with his family to Jordan and Israel.
The Treasury
The Treasury is a temple believed to be the tomb of King Aretas IV of the Nabatean Empire in the 1st century AD. This building is famous for its characteristically beautiful carvings carved directly on the mountain walls. In the early 19th century, this building was known as "Al-Khazneh" or The Treasury by the Bedouin people in the area because they believed the legend that inside this building contained treasures hidden by bandits or pirates. The Treasury has also been the shooting location for several Hollywood films. The most famous is in the climax scene of the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989.
