Sentosa island goes virtual. Nicknamed Sentosa Crossing offers a virtual staycation for residents cooped up due to the Lion City’s circuit breaker measures, and a temporary escape for global travelers in various states of lockdown.
Sentosa Island is now the world's largest virtual leisure island for virtual leisure activities. Designers spent days recreating (as far as the game would allow) some of the real-life island’s notable locations, including the Sentosa roundabout with its colorful flower beds; Sentosa Cove’s Greek restaurant, Mykonos on the Bay; and hotels like the Capella Singapore.
On the virtual tour, gamers can join a yoga session by the beach, treat themselves to a facial at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa’s So spa, take a selfie on the Skyline Luge (the sleds are painted on the ground), walk along a nature trail, or unwind at the in-game version of Ola Beach Club.
Animal Crossing is a long-running, popular life-simulation video game series in which players plant trees, grow fruits, harvest flowers, catch butterflies and carry out other activities.
If you don’t own a Nintendo Switch, Sentosa Digital Crew has come up with other ideas to bring the relaxing vibes of Sentosa into your home: DJs who have graced the decks of Rumours Beach Club, Sand Bar, and Tanjong Beach Club recently put together Sentosa Beats Party , a series of curated playlists for “social dis-dancing,” while Sentosa’s official Instagram account now offers cocktail-making tutorials. Additionally, virtual yoga sessions are being streamed on the Sentosa Facebook page every Saturday.
