Genting Dream Cruise Ship has announced its first voyage from Singapore to Surabaya and North Bali in Indonesia, starting on December 11th, 2017. The ship will arrive at Tanjung Perak Harbor in Surabaya on December 12th, before continuing to Celukan Bawang Harbor in North Bali. This new route allows tourists to explore the natural and cultural attractions of Indonesia.
Genting Dream will make 24 stops in Surabaya per year, or twice a month on even weeks. The cruise line offers two packages: a 6-day, 5-night trip and a 3-day, 2-night trip. The President of Dream Cruises, Thatcher Brown, said that Indonesia's tourism industry is growing quickly in Southeast Asia. Surabaya and North Bali were chosen because they are popular among tourists and serve as a gateway to other popular destinations in the country. The company also felt that the port of call was ideal for Dream Cruises' concept.
To boost the influx of international tourists
Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo Soedarman, the Head of Marine Tourism Acceleration Team of the Ministry of Tourism, said that the arrival of the Dream Cruises Ship in Surabaya and North Bali will increase the number of international tourists and help restore Bali's tourism industry, which was impacted by the recent eruption of Mount Agung. The opening of this new route in Indonesia is also part of a mutually beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore.
Genting Dream will bring international tourists from various countries to Indonesia from Singapore, and vice versa. The cruise ship has a capacity of 4,000-4,500 passengers and is aiming to accommodate around 900 Indonesian tourists. This will allow for an exchange of tourists between Indonesia and Singapore.
Genting Dream is the largest and most luxurious cruise ship in Asia. It is 335.33 meters long, 39.7 meters wide, and weighs 150,695 GT with a top speed of over 23 knots.
