This Starbucks next to a shopping center in Hualien, Taiwan is made of a stack of 29 shipping containers. It is one of 45 Starbucks outlets made of shipping containers, which is a Starbucks initiative to improve environmental sustainability.
This 320 sqm multi-story stacked structure painted white with the signature Starbucks logo on it, is connected to Hualien Bay Mall. At Starbucks, there is also a Drive Thru facility where drivers can order drinks to take home.
This building is Kengo Kuma's first creation using containers. This Japanese architect previously designed Starbucks Dazaifu in Fukuoka, Japan with a distinctive ornament of 2,000 thin wooden sticks.
