The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has provided a grand piano on the South Observation Deck on the 45th floor of the main building.
This unique grand piano is yellow in color and decorated with polka dots or black dots which was designed by the famous Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. This grand piano was donated by a 30-year-old Tokyo resident.
The piano, named Tocho Omoide Piano (Tocho Memory Piano) was inaugurated by the Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike in public on April 8, 2019. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government was inspired by several train stations and airports abroad that provide a piano that can be played by visitors.
All visitors are given the opportunity to freely play this piano from 10AM to 4PM. However, each person is limited to playing for five minutes, taking turns with other diners who want to try. The Observation Deck in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a very popular place that is visited by more than 2 million tourists and locals every year.
