Null Stern Hotel, Switzerland, is a 0-star hotel with the motto: “Where the only star is you.”
The Null Stern Hotel was the brainchild of Swiss concept artists Frank and Patrik Riklin of Atelier für Sonderaufgaben in St. Gallen, Switzerland. With Daniel Charbonnier, they partnered to turn this concept into a worldwide business opportunity. A new hotel brand called 'NULL STERN - THE ONLY STAR IS YOU' has finally materialized.
Has No Walls or Roof
The Swiss landscape is the wallpaper of the “Zero Real Estate” suite, having no walls or roof. If you want to go to the toilet, you must walk for 10 minutes to reach a restaurant with bathrooms. If lucky, the holiday guests will be accompanied by Swiss cows that will pass in front of the guests.
There is no roof, walls, television, or running water. But, no need to worry about the room service! Because the local farmers will provide room service for you while wearing bow ties, white gloves, and boots. Later, the waiter will deliver breakfast made from local products.
Suite Types at Null Stern Hotel
At the Null Stern hotel, you'll see the Swiss landscape and sky as the wallpaper that replaces the walls or roof. It turns out that this hotel has various types of landscapes and skies that guests can choose before staying there.
Null Stern Vineyard Suite
The vineyard suite sits in a valley on the path between two vineyards as if the skies had dropped it from the sky. This suite offers magical views of the historic medieval village of Saillon and its towers. Forming the backdrop is the 3'934 meter mountain Bietschorn, also known as "King Valais." This suite is also unique because all the furniture is from the original art installation installed in 2016 at Safiental (GR). This suite offers a hidden nest where you can "see without being seen."
During your stay, winemakers may work during the day or at night. Since the weather is unpredictable, they may have to work very early in the morning (usually several days per month). If this happens, the hotel staff will inform you upon check-in, and you will be able to enjoy your suite until sunset, and then you will be welcomed into your hotel room to enjoy the rest of the evening. When you book this suite, you'll receive an exclusive photo of an original art installation from 2016 signed by conceptual artists Frank and Patrik Riklin.
Null Stern Farinet Suite
The Farinet Suite is situated on a mystical hill called "Colline Ardente," also home to the world's smallest registered vineyard, with just three vines.
Its first owner was French actor Jean-Louis Barrault, then l'Abbé-Pierre, who bequeathed it to the Dalaï Lama and the current owner.
Famous actors, politicians, sports personalities, and artists work the land in this unique vineyard every year.
Pilgrims from all horizons have visited this place of introspection and contributed to rock collections from around the world, including the Great Wall of China, Pyramids, and Berlin Wall.
Null Stern Bayart Suite
The Bayart Suite is found on the hill where the famous Bayart Tower was erected in the 13th century. This unique location offers stunning views of the Rhône valley with vineyards and Mount Ardévaz in the backdrop. The historic village of Saillon is within walking distance of the suite, which makes the suite easily accessible from nearby restaurants and local activities while maintaining its secluded location.
Null Stern Anti-Idyllic Suite
This anti-idyllic suite is located on the side of the highway. Instead of a resting place, this new version aims to keep you awake and offers a place for reflection on current affairs such as climate, economy, security, or equality. Individuals, companies, schools, or associations are welcome to use this space to exchange, brainstorm or create ideas.
Room Rates of Null Stern Hotel
A one-night stay for two guests is CHF 325 (325 Swiss Francs) and includes a welcome drink with local organic snacks, breakfast cake from a local bakery with fresh fruit juice from the area, and service from Modern Butler. This also includes booking a hotel room at the Hôtel des Bains de Saillon in case of inclement weather.
