Aceh Museum, established on July 31, 1915, under the name Atjeh Museum, is one of the oldest museums in Indonesia. For more than 100 years, this museum has stood strong in Banda Aceh, preserving and displaying the cultural heritage and history of the Acehnese people.

This museum is a center for cultural preservation, housing more than 6,000 collections of artifacts that reflect the rich history and traditions of Aceh.

Location of Aceh Museum

Aceh Museum is located at Jalan Sultan Mahmudsyah No.10, Peuniti, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh City. Located in the city center, this museum is easily accessible from various directions and is adjacent to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, one of Banda Aceh's famous icons. Visitors can use private vehicles, taxis, or motorized rickshaws to reach the museum from various parts of the city.

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices

  • Opening Hours: Aceh Museum is open every Saturday to Thursday with two sessions, namely 09.00-12.00 WIB and 14.00-16.00 WIB. The museum is closed every Friday.

  • Ticket Prices: Entrance tickets to this museum are very affordable: 3.000 IDR for adults, 2.000 IDR for children, and 5.000 IDR for foreign tourists. Visitors can come either individually or in groups.

  • Rumoh Aceh: The main building in the museum complex is Rumoh Aceh, a traditional Acehnese house on stilts that displays typical Acehnese architecture. Inside there are various artifacts that depict the daily life of the Acehnese people in the past.

  • Diverse Artifact Collection: Aceh Museum has a collection of more than 6,038 items divided into categories such as geology, biology, ethnography, archaeology, history, numismatics and heraldry, philology, ceremonial, fine arts, and technology.

  • Over a Century of History: As one of the oldest museums in Indonesia, Aceh Museum offers an in-depth look at the history and culture of Aceh. Exhibits at the museum include traditional weapons, traditional clothing, musical instruments, and more.

  • Educational and Cultural Attractions: Aceh Museum also serves as an educational and cultural center, where visitors can learn about the history of Aceh, from the kingdom era to the colonial period and the struggle for independence.
