Likupang is a hidden gem that only divers know about. To reach the beach itself it takes 1.5 hours from the city of Manado. Dive centers and resorts on small islands off the coast of Likupang are most favored by international divers. In fact, one of them has always been one of the top 25 dive resorts in the world.

Since the government has accelerated tourism development in North Sulawesi, this city has become a marine tourism destination that has only emerged after Bunaken.

Super priority destinations developed by the Indonesian government

The Indonesian government is accelerating tourism development in Likupang by turning it into a special economic zone (SEZ). The economic zone is designed for middle to upper market resort areas.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno invited 25 foreign and domestic investors to invest in Likupang, North Sulawesi. Likupang is one of the 5 super priority tourist destinations being developed by the government.

Toll access to Likupang has also been planned. The plan is that the Manado-Bitung toll road, which was just inaugurated on February 25, 2022, will develop its access so that the Manado-Likupang route can be reached within 30 minutes.
