Biggest Train Station in Southeast Asia — Bangkok unveiled its largest train station in Southeast Asia, named Krung Thep Aphiwat, on January 19, 2023. The station is a part of the development project that replaces the old Bang Sue Grand Station with an investment of approximately USD 1 billion. The project aims to create an international link for the region and Thailand.

The new train station is a modern facility that is expected to boost the country's economy by attracting more visitors. It features an elevated rail and a connecting station for Bangkok's mass transit system. The state-of-the-art terminal will serve both domestic and international tourists.

The reason for this is that nearly all long-distance domestic and international trains in the country will pass through this new terminal. Construction on the train station began approximately 10 years ago and now the first train to run on its tracks is Sungai Kolok, located on Thailand's southern border with Malaysia.

Krung Thep Aphiwat Railway Station in Bangkok has a capacity to handle up to 40 trains simultaneously and accommodate approximately 600,000 passengers across its 12 rail lines with 24 trains. As the number of tourists visiting Bangkok has been increasing rapidly, the city is upgrading its public facilities to welcome them.
