The world's first-ever 3D printed hotel concept is now a reality at El Cosmico, located in Texas.
T he World's First 3D Printed Hotel in Texas — El Cosmico, the world's first hotel to utilize 3D printing technology in its construction, is slated to open in Texas in 2024. Frequenters of glamping may recognize the name El Cosmico , as it was previously a camping hotel in Marfa, Texas.
However, thanks to a partnership between hospitality specialist Liz Lambert, trailblazing technology company ICON, and architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), who have also worked on the opulent Audemars Piguet hotel in Le Brassus, the venue will now be transformed.
The glamping destination is set to undergo a substantial transformation, evolving into a more expansive and technologically advanced hotel.
The previous 21-hectare site will be relocated to a 62-hectare property, complete with new hospitality amenities like an infinity pool, open-air spa, and living room.
With Liz Lambert's ambitious aspirations for the venue, incorporating cutting-edge 3D printing technology has brought a truly remarkable dimension to the entire undertaking, from the dome-shaped structures to the parabolic architecture.
Apart from the forthcoming hotel, the team is also planning to introduce a residential project in Marfa called Sunday Homes. These 3D-printed homes, similar to the hotel, will embody a matchless harmony between the desert scenery and cosmic design, featuring curved surfaces, domes, and earthy tones.
With its innovative concept, it is not surprising that many are eagerly anticipating the grand opening of El Cosmico and vying to be among the first to experience it.
