MGM will turn the convention center at Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino into 24 basketball courts
MGM Resorts International has submitted a proposal to the NBA to finish the 2019-20 basketball season, which was interrupted by the coronavirus outbreak in Las Vegas.
According to the New York Times, the plan is for all players, personnel and their family members to stay at MGM-owned hotels along the Las Vegas Strip. Players and broadcasters will have access to 13 resort facilities owned by MGM.
MGM plans to convert the convention center at Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino into 24 basketball courts, 5 of which are equipped with cameras to allow live broadcast coverage.
Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino is an integrated complex consisting of a convention hall, casino and three connected hotels and has 4,700 rooms.
Sports TV station ESPN reported that the NBA is also considering Disney World in Orlando as an alternative venue. The NBA has been suspended since March after Utah's Rudy Gobert tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
