Tembi Tourism Village is one of 16 settlements in Timbulharjo village, Sewon district, Bantul district, Yogyakarta. To be precise, Tembi is located on Jalan Parangtritis Km 8.5.
Cultural Tourism
This village is famous for its cultural tourism. If you are with a group, there are various activities that you can do, including watching wayang kulit performances, gojog lesung, and karawitan.
You can also rent a bicycle or a dokar (horse cart) to get around the village. In addition, for those of you who are interested in outbound activities, there are many Tembi village-style activities that you can try, such as catching ducks, planting rice and making scarecrows.

In this village, there are many joglo or limasan traditonal houses that have spacious yards and are still left as they are, but some are indeed prepared for homestays or lodging.
The History of the Tembi Village
Actual history of the Tembi Village is yet to be found. There are several versions regarding the origin of the Tembi Village, namely:

This place being a day care for the King's children. In the past, Tembi is said to be the place for the king's children to be taken cared of.

Tembi is also said to be the resting place of the courtiers of the Kraton.

Some also said that the courtiers weren’t mean to be buried in this place. According to this version, there was a courtier who died and asked to be buried in the village of Srembi, but instead buried in the village of Tembi.
Whether true or not, the village of Tembi has now become a tourist village that frequently visited by local and foreign tourists.
