These three airports are the places where the most aircraft are stored:

  1. Roswell International Air Center in New Mexico, 374 planes

  2. Marana Pinal Airpark in Arizona, 285 planes

  3. Victorville Southern California Logistics Airport, 219 planes

These three airports are suitable for aircraft storage because they are in a dry climate.

Meanwhile in Asia, the airports that are ranked include:

  • Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Jakarta, 141 planes

  • Hong Kong International Airport, 131 aircraft

  • Singapore Changi Airport, 124 aircraft

According to experts, airports in Asia are not suitable for aircraft storage. Hot and humid environments can cause corrosion of aircraft parts.

Singapore Airlines, Scoot and SilkAir have already delivered about 22 of their aircraft to Alice Springs, a desert airport located in Australia that is ideal for storing long-haul aircraft for three to four months. Cathay Pacific, also plans to send 60 passenger planes, to long-term storage at Alice Springs and other overseas facilities
