The Magnificent Statue of Mao Zedong

This giant statue of Mao Zedong is located in a 2,300 square meter garden complex in Juzizhou or Orange Island in Changsha, China. Mao Zedong was a revolutionary figure and founder of the People's Republic of China.

This statue is made of concrete and granite. At the base of the statue is a museum. The statue which measures 32 meters high, 83 meters long and 41 meters wide is the largest Mao Zedong statue in all of China.

This statue depicts the face of Mao Zedong when he was young, where he spent time in Changsa city to give birth to his philosophical thoughts. This statue was built in 2007 and reportedly cost about 300 million US dollars.
