Takashimaya East Annex, located about a 10 minute walk from the Namba and Nipponbashi subway stations, was recently renovated into the Citadines Namba Osaka hotel.
The building is previously the administrative office of the Takashimaya Department Store. Although the interior of the building has been completely revamped, the renovation retains the design and construction of the building from the Showa Era.
The hotel has 313 rooms equipped with a 24 hour gym, lounge, and children's playroom.
This renovation project is a collaboration between Takashimaya and Singapore property company CapitaLand which started around 2015. Construction took about two years.
Takashimaya President Yoshio Murata hopes this property will contribute to machizukuri (community development) and be important to the development of Namba as a gateway to Osaka and the wider Kansai region.
He added that the design philosophy behind Citadines Namba Osaka was to create a "department hotel" which is a collaboration between a hotel and a department store.
