PLTD Apung, also known as the Floating Ship, is a large power-generating ship that is now a monument and museum in Banda Aceh. This ship is 63 meters long and has an area of around 1,900 square meters, weighing up to 2,600 tons.
Initially anchored in the ocean, this ship was carried 5 kilometers inland by the tsunami on December 26, 2004, and is now stranded in Punge Blang Cut Village. PLTD Apung is now a place to commemorate the tsunami tragedy and a disaster mitigation education center.
Location of PLTD Apung
PLTD Apung is located in Punge Blang Cut Village, Jaya Baru District, Banda Aceh City. The location is easily accessible from the city center of Banda Aceh, about 15 minutes by private vehicle or public transportation.
Visitors can use a motorized rickshaw, taxi, or online motorcycle taxi to reach this location. In addition to PLTD Apung, there are also other interesting places nearby such as the Aceh Tsunami Museum, the Tsunami Mass Grave in Gampong Ulee Lheue, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, and the green open space of Blang Padang Field.

Opening Hours: PLTD Apung Museum is open every Saturday to Thursday from 08.30-12.00 and 14.00-17.00 WIB. On Fridays, the museum is open from 14.00 to 17.00 WIB.
