Ngurtafur Beach, located on Waha Island, West Kei Kecil District, Southeast Maluku Regency, is an exotic tourist destination famous for its amazing emerging sand phenomenon. This phenomenon creates a “split sea,” where a stretch of white sand 2.5 kilometers long and 7 meters wide seems to stretch in the middle of the ocean, providing a unique experience and spectacular views for tourists.

Location and Route to Ngurtafur Beach

Ngurtafur Beach is located on Waha Island, West Kei Kecil District, Southeast Maluku. To reach this beach, tourists must cross by boat from Tual City for 1.000.000 IDR per boat for 8-10 people.

The journey across the sea to Ngurtafur Beach takes about 30-45 minutes. Although it requires extra money and time, the natural beauty makes this experience worth it.

Opening Hours of Ngurtafur Beach

Ngurtafur Beach is open to the public 24 hours a day, so tourists have the flexibility to enjoy this beach at any time. The best time to visit is in the morning until the afternoon, especially when the sea water recedes when the expanse of sand is visible and the panorama of the clear sea is even more stunning.

Ticket Price of Ngurtafur Beach

There is no entrance ticket fee to visit Ngurtafur Beach. Tourists only need to prepare a boat rental fee to cross from Tual, around 1.000.000 IDR per boat with a capacity of 8-10 people.

The main attraction of Ngurtafur Beach is the phenomenon of 2.5 kilometers of sand over the sea when the tide is low, creating a view of white sand that appears to "split" the ocean. In addition to the unique sand phenomenon, Ngurtafur Beach is a habitat for pelicans migrating from Australia in certain months, and a stopover location for rare leatherback turtles.
