The Mr Bean outlet sells various foods made from soybeans and is officially certified halal on June 9, 2022.
Even though it is halal-certified, the company, which sells soy bean drinks and various snacks, such as pancakes and beancurd, has not made an official announcement on its social media pages.
However, its 64 outlets in Singapore can be found on the list of halal-certified restaurants on the website Singapore Islamic Religious Council MUIS.
The Mr Bean Menu Controversy
Previously there was a bit of a fuss about whether Mr Bean was halal-certified when they launched their new bak kwa eggwich menu in 2018.
A Facebook user took a photo of a poster advertising a new eggwich and put the words "Not funny Mr Bean" and "Not halal" above the image.
The post caused an uproar among some users, who said they would no longer patronize Mr Bean. However, several other Facebook users also pointed out that Mr Bean did not have halal certification then. Because the Bak Kwa eggwich menu is also included in the vegetarian menu, the post was deleted.
