In this viral video, an elephant named Deu walks into a sedan in Khao Yai National Park, on Tuesday 29 October 2019 at 4PM. At first, this elephant was just stroking its trunk against the car, until it finally sat on the vehicle.

In the end, the car managed to escape from the elephant's crush even though the roof was crushed and the rear and side windows were broken. Thankfully neither the driver nor the passengers were injured.

"Deu usually likes to come to greet tourists, but he has never hurt anyone or damaged anything," said park director Kanchit Sarinpawan.

Because of this incident, the park manager finally issued a warning that must be complied when visitors are encountering elephants in Khao Yai National Park, including:

  • Shooting with flash is prohibited.
  • Do not honk the car or make other loud noises.
  • Don't turn off the engine.
  • Do not get out of the vehicle to take photos.
