An elephant in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand reportedly broke down the door of a shop and devoured more than 10 durians.
Siriphon Kerdsuchon, owner of Pa La-U's Dao Cassette shop, told reporters that wild elephants barged in Tuesday afternoon. This incident was repeated for the second time because the elephant could not resist the temptation of the delicious durian. That night, the elephant returned and destroyed the door that had just been repaired.
The repair fee for the damaged door to be paid is 12,000 baht or 5.5 million rupiah. According to Siriphon, many farmers and residents in the area have complained about the actions of these wild elephants. Siriphon also admitted that he had evidence in the form of CCTV footage of the wild elephant's actions.
Jiranun Sawatkul, keeper of Kaeng Krachan National Park, said that they are investigating the case and gathering evidence. Jiranun also said that the park would install additional cameras to prevent wildlife from entering residents' premises.
