On October 23, 2012, the football legend Diego Maradona arrived and stayed at suite room number 309 at the Blue Nile Hotel in the city of Kannur, India.
V Raveendran, hotel Managing Director, also a huge Maradona fan, recounts how thousands of people gathered, clapping and cheering around his hotel just to catch a glimpse of their icon.

Maradona stayed at the hotel for two days. Since then, room 309 was renamed the Maradona Suite and served as a small museum in memory of Maradona's visit. The amenities used by Maradona: plates, spoons, bed linen, bathroom accessories and even cigar butts in the ashtray are stored in a glass frame. The room was also decorated with rare photos of Maradona and newspaper clippings about him.
