Atari, a pioneer in the video game industry, plans to venture into a new business, namely the hotel world. The first Atari hotel will begin construction in 2020 in Phoenix, United States, and will continue with the construction of subsequent hotels in Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose.
The hotels will indeed be different from other hotels, namely with a special theme for the famous video game made by Atari combined with advanced Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology, including: Pong, Asteroids, and RollerCoaster Tycoon.
The idea of building a hotel came about when the GSD Group and Napoleon Smith III, executive producer of the film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", suggested to Atari to build a hotel.
Shelly Murphy, the founder of GSD Group, said the hotel's main concept is to create an "ecosystem" where players can "eat, sleep and play." Some hotel rooms will have a retro video game theme while others may have futuristic designs equipped with state of the art studios to accommodate e-sports events, he said, "Our hope is that you come and never want to leave because there is a lot of interaction.”
