Anegawa Nyankodo was first established in Jimbocho, Tokyo around 2010. According to the biography written by its owner, the publishing industry was in decline during that period.

As a result, sales in the store decreased, as did the number of visitors. Additionally, online sales did not improve the situation.

Feeling desperate, the owner planned to permanently close the store. However, an idea suddenly struck in, which then discussed with the daughter.

Together, they sought ways to attract more customers. Finally, Anegawa Bookstore decided to create a special section called the "cat book corner."

This section, of course, contained cat-themed books with attractive content and covers. Although dogs were more popular than cats at the time, one thing that convinced them was the internet search results showing a high number of books with the keywords "cats" and "books."

June 2013 marked the beginning of the "Cat Book Specialty Jimbocho Nyankodo." From initially having only four bookshelves, they now also offer a collection of cat-themed accessories.

At over a decade old, Anegawa Nyankodo still manages to attract visitors from various countries. They are curious about the store and the collection of books it sells, especially cat lovers and owners.
