On December 3, 2019, Malaysian budget airline AirAsia has opened a restaurant that sells food that is usually served on board. Although many passengers have the impression that the food served on board is not delicious and attractive, AirAsia believes that the food they serve is of restaurant quality and class.
This restaurant named Santan is located in the heart of Klang Valley in Mid Valley Megamall. Santan sells menus served onboard AirAsia planes. Visitors can buy classic dishes such as nasi lemak, skewers and beef rendang for 12 ringgit or around 40 thousand rupiah.
The mainstay menu at Santan restaurant is Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak and Uncle Chin Chicken Rice. Favorite menus from ASEAN countries such as Cambodian Pineapple-Fish Noodles, Chicken Inasal with Garlic Rice and Vietnamese Pho are also available at Santan restaurant.
AirAsia CEO, Tony Fernandes, plans to open Santan restaurant franchise in other places such as China, London and New York.
