Baggage claim is where travelers collect their bags after the flight. It is also a place where lost items are often found. The process of picking up baggage from the airport can be stressful, especially if your bag is lost or delayed.
When you're traveling, the last thing you want to worry about is your luggage. Here are some tips to claim your baggage.
Look for the sign to baggage claim
When you arrive at the airport, look for signs directing you to baggage claim. Signs will usually list the airline that has arrivals at a particular terminal.
Look up the flight number above the baggage claim conveyer belt
Once you find your airline, look for your flight number on the monitor above the carousel. This will tell you which carousel your baggage will leave in.
While waiting, at several modern airports such as Singapore's Changi Airport, enjoy the automatic carousel that coordinates removing luggage from the plane.
No need to panic if your luggage is not found
If your baggage is delayed or lost, go to the airline's baggage service office, which is usually located near the baggage claim.
The staff there will help you fill out the form and start searching for your bag.
Make sure your luggage/bag is yours
When your bag arrives at the carousel, be sure to double check that it's yours before you go with it. Sometimes bags can get mixed up on conveyor belts.
If you're not sure if the bag is yours, ask the nearest airport staff for help.
Once you have your bags, find the luggage cart and load your things. Then, head to the exit and enjoy your vacation!
